Okuapeman's legacy

One of Ghana's most historic centres of learning.

01

A foundation of stable governance

Through the 1733 Abotakyi Accord, the Akuapem state was founded on the Akuapem Ridge — known ever since for stable traditional governance, peacebuilding, trade, and cross-cultural integration.

02

Ghana's earliest centre of formal education

From the mid-19th century, Basel missionaries established schools and vocational centres in Akropong, Aburi, Larteh, and Adukrom — making Okuapeman a leading intellectual hub in the Gold Coast.

03

The home of Twi literacy

The reduction of the Twi language to writing began in Akuapem, followed by the Twi dictionary and the translation of the Bible — laying a deep foundation for knowledge and human-capital development.

04

Heritage meets the digital economy

That legacy of learning, discipline, and leadership is exactly what a modern innovation ecosystem is built on — the Summit connects it to the tools of the digital age.

How it's run

Rooted in tradition, professionally governed.

The Summit is owned and governed by the Akuapem Technology Secretariat, operating under the cultural authority of the Akuapem Traditional Council. Strategic oversight rests with a Governing Council of distinguished national and international figures.
