Vision
To establish Okuapeman as a globally recognised smart regional innovation ecosystem driven by technology, entrepreneurship, cultural-heritage preservation, and inclusive sustainable development.
About the Summit
The Akuapem Tech Summit 2026 is a flagship regional digital- transformation initiative — positioning Okuapeman as a leading innovation ecosystem in Ghana and West Africa while preserving its rich cultural identity. Inspired by the visionary leadership of His Majesty Oseadeeyo Nana Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene.
To establish Okuapeman as a globally recognised smart regional innovation ecosystem driven by technology, entrepreneurship, cultural-heritage preservation, and inclusive sustainable development.
To mobilise technology, innovation, partnerships, and human-capital development to bridge the digital divide, empower youth and women, stimulate entrepreneurship, and promote sustainable socio-economic transformation across Okuapeman.
What guides us
Promoting creative thinking, emerging technologies, and locally driven digital solutions.
Ensuring equal participation for women, youth, persons with disabilities, and underserved communities.
Maintaining transparency, accountability, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all activities.
Building partnerships across government, academia, traditional leadership, the private sector, and civil society.
Creating long-term systems that support continuous digital empowerment and economic growth.
Integrating technology with the preservation of Akuapem culture, language, heritage, and identity.
Okuapeman's legacy
Through the 1733 Abotakyi Accord, the Akuapem state was founded on the Akuapem Ridge — known ever since for stable traditional governance, peacebuilding, trade, and cross-cultural integration.
From the mid-19th century, Basel missionaries established schools and vocational centres in Akropong, Aburi, Larteh, and Adukrom — making Okuapeman a leading intellectual hub in the Gold Coast.
The reduction of the Twi language to writing began in Akuapem, followed by the Twi dictionary and the translation of the Bible — laying a deep foundation for knowledge and human-capital development.
That legacy of learning, discipline, and leadership is exactly what a modern innovation ecosystem is built on — the Summit connects it to the tools of the digital age.
How it's run
The Summit is owned and governed by the Akuapem Technology Secretariat, operating under the cultural authority of the Akuapem Traditional Council. Strategic oversight rests with a Governing Council of distinguished national and international figures.
